Today, Tuesday April 22, 2014, is Earth Day.
Earth Day began on April 22, 1970 and has been an important day ever since. It's a day to reflect on our planet, our environment and what we can do to help keep them healthy.
What are some ways that we can celebrate this wonderful day to help keep our earth clean and healthy? Many of the things we talked about during our rainforest unit regarding forest conservation (like recycling, using less paper, etc.) can certainly be applied to the entire earth in general too!
Here is a list of things you can do to celebrate Earth Day today:
-Head out to Union Square or Grand Central Station for free Earth Day activities.
-Plant a tree or some flowers.
-Take shorter showers.
- Participate in a gardening project.
-Turn off the lights during the day.
-Make a bird feeder.
- Make cool art projects from reused materials
- Volunteer.
- Walk or bike instead of riding in cars.
- Write a letter to Congress (the government)
- Recycle. Recycle. Recycle.
